Tasha Francis
Tasha Francis is an illustrator from South London who specialises in creating pop art styled pieces of semi-abstract portraits. Using bold, contrasting colours in her work to add depth and to create an alternative, visual reality through her eyes.
Tasha expresses the images digitally and incorporates her photography occasionally. For instance, her piece; ‘The Rising Sun’ includes a collaged element that’s in place of the hair in the portrait - the collage consists of images of her own wide toothed comb that she personally uses for her hair. Adding this element to the piece in this way reflects the versatility of black hair.
From my perspective I think that art should be more than just a series of attractive images and so should tell a story the more the viewer studies and analyses each element and detail of the art you put in front of them. I believe that your art should move with intention and purpose in order to make a more lasting impression on those in its presence.
